Energy Management…

 …Energy Certification

We provide a full energy management and certification service to businesses, public bodies, and other organisations.

Why Energy Management?

New legislation (see side box) is driving many businesses to take a closer look at their energy use - but it's by no means the only reason to take energy management seriously. Other key drivers include property value, operational and building life-cycle costs, and sustainability concerns.

Much More than Energy Performance Certificates...

You can use our accredited Energy Assessors simply to meet your legal requirements for Energy Performance Certificates - or you can benefit from our comprehensive approach to Energy Management and see a direct impact on your bottom line, on the capital/rental value of your property, and on your CSR credentials.

In providing you with a full energy management service, our energy consultants will:
  • Gather building data.
  • Conduct an energy performance survey.
  • Compile a full report on asset and operational performance.
  • Issue EPCs/DECs.
  • Record and manage ongoing energy performance.
  • Recommend and monitor efficiency controls.
  • Review procurement and reduce costs.
  • Advise on energy-related aspects of your CSR policy.
Typically, our clients see payback within two years, as a result of reduced consumption based on the recommendations of our Energy Consultants.

Ongoing Energy Management

We take a no-nonsense approach, providing both traditional and forward-thinking ideas for reducing cost and consumption.

Technical solutions are only part of the story. We also understand the importance of the right management strategy if change is to be effective, and our Energy Consultants work closely with your managers as they implement the recommendations.

Supply-side Savings

Alongside our support with energy management inside your buildings, we'll also review your energy supply contracts and source cheaper solutions.  Find out more on our Gas and Electricity page.  You can use our cost-reduction services even if you are not using our full Energy Management service.

Energy Management:

Your Legal Requirements

Energy Performance Certicates

You must provide an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) when selling or renting commercial premises.

The certificate shows the asset rating of the building - i.e. how well the heating, lighting and other services perform within the building.  It does not cover machinery or appliances.

It also gives you recommendations for improvements,  information on investment costs and likely payback time, and the rating you could potentially achieve if you implement all the recommendations.

Display Energy Certificates

Public authorities are required to display a DEC at all times in public buildings over 1,000 square feet.  DECs must be updated every year.

If you don’t comply, you can be fined up to 12.5% of the rateable value of the property.

Follow the link for more information on energy certificates.

Current legislation has been introduced in support of the UK's commitment to the Kyoto Protocol.  Ratified by 183 nations (as at Jan 2009), the protocol commits each signatory to putting in place its own action plan.
